More about me
I grew up in Kerala, India, and now call Vancouver home. I’m naturally curious and love learning about people, cultures, places, and the little things that make communities unique. I’m someone who genuinely enjoys bringing a bit of order to chaos, whether that’s figuring out a new system, planning something, or organizing way more than necessary! Outside of work, I love discovering new food, reading, heading out on road trips and exploring new places. I’m also very close to my family, and can usually be convinced to share a story (or several!) about my dog Popo and my niece Aarna.
Why forests are important to me
Forests have always felt deeply personal to me. Growing up in Kerala, nature was part of everyday life, but my connection to forests also comes through my family. My grandfather was a Forest Officer, and my father and his siblings grew up closely connected to Kerala’s forests and wildlife. I grew up hearing their stories, which gave me a fascination and appreciation for these places from a very young age. The forests of Kerala and the Western Ghats therefore hold special significance for me - they are connected to home, family, and some of my earliest ideas about nature. As I’ve learned more about sustainability, that connection has deepened into an appreciation for how essential forests are to biodiversity, climate, communities, and our collective future.
Why Canopy
What excites me most about joining Canopy is the opportunity to contribute to work that has real, meaningful impact. I’m inspired by Canopy’s solutions-focused approach and the way collaboration, creativity, and action come together to protect forests and advance more sustainable systems. I’m also really excited to contribute from an operations perspective - building strong processes, solving problems, and creating the behind-the-scenes support that helps people do their best work. Most of all, I’m looking forward to learning from, contributing to, and getting to know the incredible group of Canopals!
Ask me about
Ask me about Kerala and the matrilineal traditions of the Menon community - the sociology nerd in me could happily geek out about this for hours! Also ask me about new food spots, hidden gems to explore with TUX, my car, or the hilarious dynamic of love and rivalry between my dog Popo and my niece Aarna.
What ruffles my feathers
Beating around the bush, unnecessary gossip, and surprise spotlights. I'm a big fan of straightforward conversations and a little heads-up!
