Carlotta joins Canopy as a Corporate Campaigner on the Pack4Good team. She began her career analyzing supply chain and economic risk and supporting traceability work in the field of investigative due diligence. While this work was exciting, she always felt that key risks around land-use and environmental impact were left out, and was eager to find ways to create opportunities for more responsible practices. After earning her Masters, she spent time working on responsible sourcing, supplier engagement, and environmental and social compliance at a leading global sustainability consulting firm. Carlotta earned her Bachelors in East Asian Studies and Geography at McGill University, and completed her dual Masters in Applied Economics & Social and Economic Policy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Northwestern University.
More about me
I am passionate about how we can work together to build supply chains that empower workers, support responsible land use, and create a more sustainable economy. I fell into my career path through my joy in trying to understand the very evolving and complex relationship between people and nature, and I now feel lucky that I get to think about that every day at work here at Canopy, and for fun through living in Chicago, where markers of environmental history are abundant. I am grateful that through my time at McGill, I was able to spend a significant amount of time in China (and later in Hong Kong during my Masters degree). This time was spent learning Chinese, wandering around, doing hands-on research, and eating well.
Why forests are important to me
I grew up lucky enough to be exposed to a diverse array of natural environments through living in different places, among them the dense forests of New England. I was shaped at a young age by watching birds and bugs, occasionally getting a little lost in the woods, and noticing how the natural environment inevitably shaped the people, history, and livelihoods around me. Forests are important to me not only because of the amazing intangible importance they hold for all of us in our stories and spaces, but also the very tangible importance they hold in sustaining our lives on Earth.
Why Canopy
I believe there is a very real economic opportunity to shift away from deforestation, toward options that are better for forests, water, biodiversity, and communities. Canopy is proving this through the smart and collaboration-driven work they do, powered by a bright and passionate (and fun) team.

What ruffles my feathers
Climate nihilism -- we have more ability to do good than we think! Also when people play videos out loud on public transit, drivers who don't watch for bikers, ignorance, and food waste.
