More About Me
I was born and raised in Mongolia but grew up largely in Vancouver, so I’m constantly straddling cultural and linguistic boundaries. Both of these places have instilled in me a love for the land and a belief in following the teachings of my ancestors. So much of my passion for work is driven by my community and growing up in an extremely coal-polluted city. Coal has had me in a chokehold for all my life, so I live to see the end of coal. I hope the work I’m doing now can lead me back to Mongolia to help improve and end the coal pollution there.
I’m eager to reconnect with the land and animals and consciously decouple from capitalism and colonialism. I’m really into learning about growing food, learning about native plants and species, and staring at the ocean (because water is life).
Why forests are important to me
Forests are ecosystems that hold so much wisdom and bear witness to time. I’m not a “tree-hugger” type of a campaigner, but I respect forests as my elders and as a vital part of the land. In my lifetime, I hope Ancient and Endangered Forests are protected and no longer logged.
Why Canopy
I’m drawn to Canopy’s solutions-focused approach and work on Next Gen. The Canopy team is packed with ambitious and brilliant folks, so it’s an optimal place for learning and tackling challenges.
Ask me about
I love to live a chaotic life. I love a good back-to-back packed schedule filled with activities. I love collecting hobbies. I have a Rolodex of hyper fixations (cast iron pots, sunscreen, and yogurt are some examples).
What ruffles my feathers
Land theft, imperialism, broken headphones, waking up from a juicy dream, and people without joie de vivre.
If I were a wild animal, I would be a dragon. I read that in Chinese cosmology, dragons are rivers. A quote from an article on Dragons says, "Dragons, being rivers, flow from a high place to a low place and then all the way out to the sea. As they flow, they can push and shape everything in their paths." Dragons don't govern, they also can't be governed. They flow.
