Stella McCartney has launched the #THERESHEGROWS Instagram campaign, enlisting the help of her friends across the world to raise awareness for need for protection of the Ancient and Endangered Leuser Ecosystem in Sumatra, Indonesia. So far, participants in the initiative have included Gwyneth Paltrow, Pink, Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon and Karlie Kloss, our very own Founder and Executive Director Nicole Rycroft, with more set to join.
The campaign was developed to support Canopy’s work to secure conservation of the Leuser Ecosystem, the last place on Earth where orangutans, rhinos, elephants and tigers still co-exist in the wild. Canopy is working alongside of local and international NGO allies and local decision makers to secure protection of the 6.5 million-acres rainforest and support a conservation-based economy in the region.
Participants in #THERESHEGROWS dedicate a tree to someone special from their past, present or future, tell the story of their dedication and then nominate others to do the same. Stella will be making a donation through the Stella McCartney Cares Foundation to Canopy on behalf of everybody that takes part, with, as Stella mentions “their dedication symbolising a piece of the forest that will be protected.” Read about Canopy’s work in the Leuser Ecosystem Canopy is also part of the Love the Leuser Alliance.
