We are thrilled to share that our Founder and Executive Director, Nicole Rycroft, was one of three individuals awarded the Meritorious Service Cross Of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada at a ceremony in Rideau Hall on May 26.
The Meritorious Service Cross recognizes great Canadians for accomplishing exceptional deeds that bring honour to Canada. Other recipients of the Meritorious Service Cross at last month’s ceremony were The Honourable Murray Sinclair, O.C., C.C., M.S.C., and Gregory Sedetsky, M.S.C.
“I am very moved to receive this honour, in particular from Canada’s first Indigneous Governor General,” said Nicole Rycroft. “I hope to live up to this honour by continuing to advocate for the natural legacy of forests in Canada and around the world, and by collaborating with companies, communities, and organizations to protect our climate and species that depend on these magnificent ecosystems.”
Nicole has also received the Climate Breakthrough Award, Canadian Environment Award Gold Medal, is part of the UBS Global Visionaries Program, and is an Ashoka Fellow.
