The Keeling Curve Prize is awarded to ten of the world’s highest-impact climate initiatives “with a proven track record of taking greenhouse gasses out of the atmosphere”. We are so pleased to announce that Canopy has been honoured with a 2022 Keeling Curve Prize.
Canopy won the prestigious award, which is an initiative of The Global Warming Mitigation Project (GWMP) in the category of Protecting Social and Cultural Pathways for our work in “protecting the world’s forests.” Projects in this category are changing the way people consider, understand, and act on humanity’s impacts affecting the livability of planet Earth. Forests are the first line of defence against climate change, they store carbon, create rainfall and purify the air, and overall help keep the climate stable. We are thrilled to have our work (with over 800 brand and innovation partners) to transform supply chains and keep forests standing, so boldly recognized.
The Global Warming Mitigation Project is a nonprofit that exists to pave the way to a livable future; they bring visibility, credibility, and funding to science-backed climate solutions across the globe while providing inclusive and positive opportunities for individuals, companies, and organizations to contribute to climate mitigation efforts.
Keeling Curve Prize winners are selected from a field of hundreds of applications, after passing through a rigorous screening process conducted by the program’s impressive team of analysts. This year’s judging panel included Kara Hurst, VP of Worldwide Sustainability at Amazon; Stephan Nicoleau of FullCycle; Ashwati Ramesh of Climate Angels Network; Paul Holthus of World Ocean Council; and other leaders in the climate space.
