Next Gen

Next week, Canopy, will join global leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos to advance one clear goal: accelerate the transformation of take-make-waste supply chains across paper, packaging, and MMCF textiles to lower-carbon, lower-impact alternatives — and mobilize the catalytic capital to bring them to market at scale.

For over 25 years, Canopy has worked with more than 1,000 brands, producers, investors, and innovators to shift markets away from high-risk forest sourcing and toward circular alternatives. The challenge now is to bring them to scale. That’s why, at Davos, Canopy and our partners will introduce a big, bold concept: a replicable blended finance model designed to finance and lift the full value chain — from feedstock systems and pre-processing to mill upgrades and bankable offtakes.

The blended finance vehicle is designed to pilot first in India, where the enabling conditions for speed and scale are already lining up: abundant agricultural residues and recycled textiles, strong industrial and fibre-processing capacity, and growing demand from global buyers for lower-risk, supply-shock-resilient inputs. By convening catalytic capital, private investors, and supply chain partners around a single, coordinated model, the concept aims to unlock commercial-scale Next Gen production across paper, packaging, and MMCF textiles—creating a practical template that can be replicated in other high-impact markets.

In Davos, Canopy’s delegation will engage investors, philanthropies, policymakers, and corporate partners to drive action on three fronts: (1) mobilizing catalytic capital that unlocks Next Gen infrastructure, (2) aligning demand signals to de-risk investment, and (3) building the partnerships required to scale Next Gen fibre supply chains with credibility and speed.
