Paper Futures 2009

As key stakeholders in paper production, printing and publishing, we all play important roles in shaping and defining the future of our industries. Paper Futures is an annual event where we discuss how the publishing industries can lighten their footprint on our planet, its forest and it species as well as how businesses can have a positive impact on how people interact with their natural world.

Forests, Carbon and Caribou

Dr. Faisal Moola, PhD., Director of Science at the David Suzuki Foundation will talk about why forests need advocates now more than ever. Inparticular, his presentation will look at the special carbon and biodiversityvalue of old growth forests.

A Vision for the Next 10 Years

Nicole Rycroft, Executive Director of Canopy will outline 10 years of work engaging the publishing sector on endangered forest conservation while presenting a forward-looking vision for a greener paper market in the next 10 years.

Building a Greener Supply Chain

Carl Hastrich, Industrial Designer and teacher at Ontario College of Art and Design will explore concepts borrowed from the Biomimicry approach in order to present a blueprint for designing the greenest and most innovative paper supply chain 'inspired by nature.'
